It is scientifically proven that you become like the 5 people you spend the most time with. Subconsciously their personality, mannerisms, intelligence and attitude rub off on you the more time you spend with them.
Take some time to reflect on your ‘Fab 5’. Write them down if you wish and evaluate what impact they make in your life. Do they encourage you to achieve your dreams? Do they support you when you’re feeling down? Do they relish in your failure? Do they constantly spread negativity? Assess the pros and cons and decide whether your friend is worth a spot in your life. You don’t need people in your life that aren’t 100% supportive of you and your success.
Negative thoughts come a lot easier than positive thoughts. We are hyper critical of ourselves and it is easy to get wrapped up in negative thoughts and feelings. I recommend that you are always surrounding yourself with positive people that can keep your spirits up and embody what a true friend is.
However, it is important that we can spot the difference between negative thoughts and negative people. Negative people are composed of the following;
- They spread negativity
- They criticize you and others
- They are jealous
- They keep disappointing you
- Everything is always dramatic
- They play the victim
- They are self-centered
- They aren’t interested in changing
If you have a friend like that, or a name comes into your mind when reading those points – consider removing them from your life. You are a successful, strong person and you don’t need negative people holding you down. Terminating a friendship is never easy, especially if it is a long-standing friendship but yourself, and your other friends will thank
